[A/N: Seems I am very lewd lately. I learned that apparently it was KanaDia day yesterday, which I didn’t even know was a thing. So while I was eating breakfast, this idea for the pairing sprung up. I think I managed to keep it not explicit, but it sure as hell isn’t subtle. Warnings for NSFW, though I’d say it’s more 16+ than 18+, if you get what I mean.]
“Mm? What is it, Dia?”
[A/N: Had this silly idea after seeing a piece of Love Live Sunshine fanart with You in glasses yesterday. It’s a very powerful image.]
Takami Chika hopped into the classroom, feeling victorious. She had nearly missed the bus, but she had made it to school in good time. Surely the sign of a better time being ahead of her! Speaking of a better time, among the handful of others already here was the lovely Watanabe You, who looked a little extra lovely today.
“Good morning, You-chan!” Chika called out as she made her way over.
You looked up. “Oh, morning, Chika-chan!” She grinned with utter brilliance, and for once she was wearing her glasses. Actually, it looked like she had gotten a new frame for them, all red and stylish.
“Special day?” Chika asked as she took her seat.
[A/N: Realised I hadn’t really written anything to post for a while, so I tried to think of some ideas. This was the first one that came to me, and it seemed so fun I couldn’t resist. We’re back to Love Live Sunshine, as that’s where my mind goes when I need a simple and fun idea. And I haven’t done any Mari/You yet, so…]
School was over for the day, but I had work to do in my office before I could go home. I take my role very seriously.
Suddenly there was a flash of lightning, silhouetting a figure standing in the doorway. My poor maiden’s heart got startled, but when I saw it was our own Watanabe You who stepped into the room, my fears eased.
“Hello, Mari-chan~,” she said, and I could tell something was up because of the way she said it. Almost like she was purring.
“Hello, You-chan!” I responded cheerfully. “Did you need something?”
[A/N: In honour of Matsuura Kanan’s birthday, I have written a little story for her. Not the typical birthday fare I’ve done, since it’s not really tied to the celebration. The title is an homage to the Silly Lilies series. This isn’t the same “universe”, but I was never able to put a proper cap on that series, so why not revisit the KanaRuby ship here, I thought. Ruby tries her best.]
“Here, Kanan-chan!” Ruby bowed her head, and thrust forward a small bag tied shut with a cute, red ribbon.
Kanan accepted the bag. It was very light, and she could feel something shuffling about inside when she moved it. “What’s this?” she asked, though the way it felt gave her some ideas already.
“It’s… they’re chocolates…” Ruby said, seemingly very interested in looking at her shoes.
[A/N: The end of the year is always a busy time, with the holidays happening, best of the year lists to be written, and preparing to get started with January. But by checking well in advance, I learned that Kurosawa Dia’s birthday is on 1. January, and I’ve been preparing for that. Been trying to come up with a good idea all month, and I think I’ve gotten there. Went on longer than I expected, though. Unfortunately there were two other birthdays I missed. Fate’s Nero Claudius on the 15., and Symphogear’s Yukine Chris on the 28.. I really hate that I wasn’t able to do anything for the latter especially, but I simply didn’t have the time or energy. At least I have this one.]
It was New Year’s Eve, and Dia was feeling nervous. And excited. Though she was doing her best at remaining calm, and her best was very good indeed.
It would be five years since they graduated this coming Spring, and since she, Kanan, and Mari parted ways. Today they were all getting together again. It wasn’t like she had never seen them again since. Mari had come back for a short time after she graduated college, and her and Dia had shared a brief moment before Mari had to leave again. And she had seen Kanan just this past Summer. She assumed the two of them had met at some point as well. But this was the first time since they graduated from Uranohoshi that all three of them would be together again.
[A/N: For the second of this year’s Christmas stories (which is technically happening post-Christmas), we are revisiting Ruby and Leah from Love Live Sunshine. I wanted to get episode 9 watched before I started this one, and now that that’s done, let’s see what we can do about this. Post-completion: Okay, that became a lot longer than I expected it would. Proof-reading this wasn’t easy, but I’m fairly happy with it.]
Getting the permission for this hadn’t been easy, but Ruby had done her very rubesty. Convincing Dia had been the hard part. Getting Mari to lend her the money for the ticket had been fairly easy. Mari seemed very supportive of Ruby going to see Leah, and had even helped talk to Dia. Ruby wasn’t sure how long it would take her to repay all of that, but she was certain it would be worth it.
She was going to stay with Leah in Hakodate for New Year’s. Of course she felt bad about asking for that after they had just come back from the Christmas concert they did, but she wanted this more than anything else in the world right now. Even more than winning Love Live. If she missed this opportunity, she’d have to wait a whole year for her next chance. It meant missing most of Dia’s birthday for the first time ever, but she told herself that was going to happen sooner or later anyway.
[A/N: Wanted to write something cute, and again recalled some fanart I saw long, long ago. June or July. I wish I could find it again, but I forgot to bookmark it. But yeah: the childhood friend ship I don’t see that often.]
“Okay then, first one to reach the pier,” Kanan said. “Ready?”
“You bet,” You said, already in her ready stance.
Kanan adopted a similar stance. “Ready… set… go!” It had entered her mind to cheat a little to trip You up, but she was confident in her chances regardless.
Running on sand was always an extra challenge. They were running far enough up the beach that hopefully the sand should be equally dry for both of them. If it wasn’t well into autumn, they might have ran barefoot, but it was a tad chilly for that now.
[A/N: Had an idea while half-asleep one morning, and I haven’t really written much featuring these two. So I figured I’d give it a shot.]
Kanan found Riko on the roof of the school. It was a bright, sunny day, but the redhead was just staring emptily at her lunch box. She had barely taken a bite. Gusts of wind were rustling her hair, but she wasn’t taking any notice of it. Even when it flew across her face.
“May I sit down?” Kanan asked after she had walked over. Riko slowly looked up at her with dull eyes, then back down before nodding slightly. The older girl took a seat on the bench. She had expected to see red in those eyes, but perhaps Riko was past the crying stage.
Kanan hadn’t taken long to think it over before making her decision. She knew Riko’s heart was broken. In fact she and Mari might have been the only ones who had noticed. The rest of the group were so dense, buying into Riko’s act when she was with the rest of them. Chika especially needed to get a clue. But perhaps it worked in Kanan’s favour that she hadn’t.
[Sequel to Silly Lilies 2]
Classes are finally over for the day, and Ruby is heading for the club-room. There is sewing to be done, and she’d like to get it done quickly. Hanamaru has invited her to go for ice cream with her and Yoshiko, and it really feels like forever since she’s gotten to hang out with those two. Normally she’d go to the costume room, but that’s technically not their room. They just use it when the drama club doesn’t. However the drama club has a play in the works, so they’ve claimed the room for at least the next two weeks.
It’s not a huge issue, especially today. The club-room should be fairly quiet. You has a thing with the swim club, Chika has to help out at home, and Hanamaru and Yoshiko left early. So it’s unclear if anyone else is going to bother showing up. So Ruby is banking on threading this needle in no time. She pats herself on the back for that clever joke.
[Follow-up to Fallen Gem]
Hanamaru was proud of her role in getting Ruby and Yoshiko together. She was glad the two of them had made up, and seemed to be doing well together.
It was a bit of a lapse on her part to not notice Ruby’s feelings for Yoshiko before Ruby went and confessed. Maybe she could have helped make that all… less messy. She had thought she had a better head and eye for those things than both of them put together, but to her credit Ruby had managed to slip entirely under the radar.
There was also this new sense of confidence to Ruby now. Whenever she saw Ruby and Yoshiko together, Ruby seemed to be the one in the lead. Seemed like there was finally something someone was more shy about than Ruby, and Hanamaru could tell her friend found great joy in that. It was nice seeing them together.
