[A/N: I’ve been brewing on this idea for a little while, and figured it was time to put it to the test. I couldn’t make my idea for a new Dia/Kanan/Mari fic work (yet), but this one feels like a more complete concept.]
The beast stalks her unsuspecting prey. Approaching from the shadows as she eyes her dark-haired prize. Closer. And closer. Then with a ferocious “Wah!” she pounces, wrapping her arms around her sitting target from behind.
“Di-a-chan!” Chika says cheerfully, and nuzzles her cheek against Dia’s.
“Hello, Chika-chan,” Dia says in a tone that conveys fondness, but no surprise.
[A/N: I have this small ball of seeds of ideas roughly falling under the label of ‘Hanamaru is too gay for this’, and one of them sprouted into this.]
“Y-You-san?” Hanamaru wasn’t sure how she had ended up on the floor, or how You had ended up on top of her. But those blue eyes were gazing down at her very intently.
“I’ve been thinking about you for a long time, Hanamaru-chan.” You’s voice was huskier than Hanamaru was used to, and the fingers caressing her scalp was making her shiver.
“You-san…” Hanamaru wasn’t sure what was going to happen next, but then You started leaning down towards her. She closed her eyes, and just as she could sense You’s closeness…
Hanamaru woke up.
“Ugh…” Watanabe You felt miserable. Wasn’t summer supposed to be over? Yet it was still unbearably warm, even with the sun having gone down. Her brain was fried, so any more studying would have to wait. She’d taken off her glasses anyway, since they just kept sliding down her nose. At least it was slowly cooling down now. Slowly being the key word, as everything was still really clammy. Even sitting still she felt awful.
Suddenly she could feel something pressing against her back, and two arms were lazily draped around her.
“Chi… Chika-chan?” Hadn’t Chika fallen asleep after overheating? Ah, she could feel warm breath against her neck. You shivered, the sensation travelling down her spine.
[A/N: Aaaahhh, this one ambushed me! After getting Ruby’s story ready to go for her birthday, I looked up when the next one would be, and found Riko to be two days before! So I barely had time to brainstorm, much less plan. I’m so sorry for it being short and kinda shitty, Riko. You deserve better. Happy birthday, you poor pervert.]
“So why did we have to come up to the roof?” Riko asked. The two of them had practically dragged her up here. She hadn’t even managed to grab her lunch.
Chika and You exchanged glances and smiled. “Because…” You said.
“We have a present for you!” Chika eagerly finished.
“You couldn’t have waited until after school?” Riko asked. The door finally closed behind them. It was a bit slow. The three of them moved off to the side.
It was Riko’s birthday, so she wasn’t surprised they had gotten her something. She would have been upset if they didn’t. But the party wasn’t until this afternoon.
[A/N: ChikaYou is simply really darn cute, so this needed to be written.]
It was a beautiful day, and Chika was lying stretched out, face up on a beach sunbed. With eyes closed behind sunglasses, and wearing a yellow bikini, she was just soaking up the sun, and listening to the waves gently roll in onto the beach. A few seagulls were occasionally squawking just off shore.
Normally she didn’t have the patience to lie still when outside, but after the workout this morning it was nice to just rest a bit. The sun was warm, and it made her drowsy. Maybe she could get a tan. Everything was really peaceful. Until a shadow moved over her face.
[A/N: Another fictional character’s birthday, another short story! Since I learned Honoka’s is just two days after Chika’s, I decided to combine them. ]
“Happy birthday, Chika!”
Chika looked at the cake on the table in front of her. It even had candles, and her name in frosting. She looked over at the two sitting on the other side of the table. Riko was beaming, and You was grinning widely. When did they…
“When did you… how long have you planned this?” Chika asked. They were at a restaurant in Tokyo, not back home. So how had they gotten a cake?
[A/N: Just some short stories based on a cute tweet I saw. Not pairings I’d normally go for. The stories are set in different seasons, but I figured I could at least arrange them chronologically. I wrote them in reverse order.]
The cherry blossoms were falling, and Yohane was watching them float about from the window of the clubroom. She knew it was a normal thing to go outside and watch them, but she didn’t like the way they always seemed to end up clinging to her, and getting in her hair. That part probably wasn’t normal.
Besides, it would probably somehow start to rain if she wanted to enjoy the nice weather. Even though the sky didn’t have a single cloud in it today. They had a way of sneaking up on her. Speaking of…
[Follow-up to Fallen Gem]
Hanamaru was proud of her role in getting Ruby and Yoshiko together. She was glad the two of them had made up, and seemed to be doing well together.
It was a bit of a lapse on her part to not notice Ruby’s feelings for Yoshiko before Ruby went and confessed. Maybe she could have helped make that all… less messy. She had thought she had a better head and eye for those things than both of them put together, but to her credit Ruby had managed to slip entirely under the radar.
There was also this new sense of confidence to Ruby now. Whenever she saw Ruby and Yoshiko together, Ruby seemed to be the one in the lead. Seemed like there was finally something someone was more shy about than Ruby, and Hanamaru could tell her friend found great joy in that. It was nice seeing them together.
[A/N: Disclaimer: The opening is You’s thoughts of herself, and it does not represent my thoughts of her.]
Watanabe You had things to think about. Mainly one thing. What was her role in Aqours? She wasn’t the greatest singer, or the greatest dancer. She didn’t have the best sense of rhythm. She wasn’t the cutest, or the prettiest. She had a passion for uniforms and costumes, and she made the ones for the group. Was that all she had?
The others could probably do that without her if they had to. Ruby had a talent for design. Yoshiko and Dia were good with their hands.
A gust of wind rustled her hair, and she gazed up at the sky. It was a nice day. Summer might be approaching its end, but it was still warm enough. She was hoping the fresh air would help clear her mind as well.
[Sequel to Silly Lilies]
Ruby has kept an eye out today, but Chika and You have not exhibited any more strange behaviour. No paper bags, no wall slamming. She still catches them glancing at her sometimes. Yet they seem to have calmed down, and Ruby is thankful for it. Perhaps things will return to normal now.
After practice Ruby heads back to grab something she forgot in the classroom. Hanamaru asked if Ruby wanted her to wait, but that’s fine. Hanamaru’s been spending a lot of time with Yoshiko lately, so Ruby wouldn’t have walked home with her anyway.
