Birthdays hadn’t been a big thing for Yohane for quite a while. Her friend circle had never really been that big. But she knew in advance that this year there would be no escaping it.
She hadn’t dropped any hints or anything, absolutely not. But Zuramaru had brought it up a week ago, and Yohane was sure she would have told the others as well. But as the day went on, no one said anything to her. Not even Zuramaru, nor Ruby. And none of the other Aqours members stopped by during breaks. Considering how much she had prepared herself to be inundated with ‘happy birthday’ greetings, she was now feeling rather annoyed. Maybe Zuramaru had gotten the date wrong, or somehow managed to forget in just a week.
[A/N: Just some short stories based on a cute tweet I saw. Not pairings I’d normally go for. The stories are set in different seasons, but I figured I could at least arrange them chronologically. I wrote them in reverse order.]
The cherry blossoms were falling, and Yohane was watching them float about from the window of the clubroom. She knew it was a normal thing to go outside and watch them, but she didn’t like the way they always seemed to end up clinging to her, and getting in her hair. That part probably wasn’t normal.
Besides, it would probably somehow start to rain if she wanted to enjoy the nice weather. Even though the sky didn’t have a single cloud in it today. They had a way of sneaking up on her. Speaking of…

Hanamaru was proud of her role in getting Ruby and Yoshiko together. She was glad the two of them had made up, and seemed to be doing well together.
It was a bit of a lapse on her part to not notice Ruby’s feelings for Yoshiko before Ruby went and confessed. Maybe she could have helped make that all… less messy. She had thought she had a better head and eye for those things than both of them put together, but to her credit Ruby had managed to slip entirely under the radar.
There was also this new sense of confidence to Ruby now. Whenever she saw Ruby and Yoshiko together, Ruby seemed to be the one in the lead. Seemed like there was finally something someone was more shy about than Ruby, and Hanamaru could tell her friend found great joy in that. It was nice seeing them together.
[A/N: Disclaimer: The opening is You’s thoughts of herself, and it does not represent my thoughts of her.]
Watanabe You had things to think about. Mainly one thing. What was her role in Aqours? She wasn’t the greatest singer, or the greatest dancer. She didn’t have the best sense of rhythm. She wasn’t the cutest, or the prettiest. She had a passion for uniforms and costumes, and she made the ones for the group. Was that all she had?
The others could probably do that without her if they had to. Ruby had a talent for design. Yoshiko and Dia were good with their hands.
A gust of wind rustled her hair, and she gazed up at the sky. It was a nice day. Summer might be approaching its end, but it was still warm enough. She was hoping the fresh air would help clear her mind as well.
Ruby’s time in Aquors has been the best of her life, and she really enjoys hanging out with everyone in the group. For natural reasons she has ended up with You a lot of the time, helping her design and put together their various idol outfits. And wherever You is, you will often find Chika.
However, Ruby feels like the two of them have been acting a bit strange lately, and she can swear they’ve been giving her weird looks. She wonders if she has done something wrong maybe, but it’s not like they’ve seemed angry, or treated her badly. Just strange. It’s probably nothing.
